Shooting down two Syrian government warplanes over Idlib region

The Turkish forces shot down on Sunday, two Syrian government warplanes in the countryside of Maarat al-Numan and Mount (Jabal) al-Zawiya, without casualties among their crews.

 

The two Sukhoi Su-24 of the Syrian government Air Force were targeted by Turkish F-16 fighter jets from the Syrian-Turkish borders, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The Syrian official news agency SANA, stated that the pilots weren't injured and they are "ok".  

 

SANA confirmed that the Syrian government forces shot down a Turkish military drone over the area of Saraqib, denying the aircraft to be Syrian.

 

In a previous time on Sunday, the news of shooting down an aircraft over Saraqib, in the eastern countryside of Idlib, was conflicted between the Syrian government forces and the Turkish ones, whereas the Syrian government forces announced a no-fly zone in northwestern Syria.

 

On February 14, a crew of a helicopter which was shot down in Qubtan al-Jabal village, northwestern Aleppo, was killed.

 

On February 11, the Turkish forces shot down a Syrian government warplane over al-Nairab-Qaminas axis in Idlib’s northeastern countryside, killing the crew which was consisting of a colonel, a captain and two pilots.
