The U.S. forces in northeastern Syria have intercepted a large Russian convoy in the town of Tal Tamr, west of Hasakah on Monday. The Russian military convoy was heading along the M4 highway from Aleppo towards the city of Qamishli.

The Russian convoy was forced to stop until coordination between the two forces took place, after which the convoy took the border road that passes from the town of Abu Rasin through the towns of Derbesiya and Amude to Qamishli, where the main base of the Russian forces in the region is located.

North-Press learned from private sources that according to an agreement between the two forces, the Russian forces would only use the border roads, without travelling on the main roads leading into the rural areas around Qamishli and Hasakah.

This comes in light of the power struggle between the two forces in the region. Despite the recent statement of the spokesperson for the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS, Colonel Miles Caggins to North-Press that there is coordination and communication with the Russian forces about their movements in the region, he mentioned the existence of "many complications" stemming from the Russian presence in the region.

Last month, the Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko, said that conflict resolution mechanisms with the U.S. forces were very effective in Syria.

On January 21st, an American soldier accompanying a patrol in the village of Gir-Ziyarat in Derik countryside, told North-Press that they had "a plan to prevent the passage of the Russian military vehicles if they came to this area," adding that they would pursue the Russian patrols and convoys and prevent them from entering the areas with American forces are present.
