On Monday, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, formerly al-Nusra Front, al-Qaeda's affiliate in Syria) arrested a military commander in the National Front for Liberation in Idlib's eastern countryside.

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham arrested a military commander in the National Front for Liberation along with some of his militants, in addition to seizing military vehicles and weaponry which were in their possession while switching their guard shift on the Saraqib front in Idlib's eastern countryside, according to what opposition media outlets reported.

The Salafist jihadist militant group Tahrir al-Sham also announced mobilization and erected several security checkpoints in the area.

Violent clashes took place between Tahrir al-Sham and National Front for Liberation on the 12th of last March, when the latter brought in support for the storming of a neighborhood in the town of Sarmada, northern Idlib, which resulted in the injury of 6 militants from both sides, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

With the beginning of the current year, fighting continues between Tahrir al-Sham and the National Front for Liberation in the de-escalation zones in Idlib province, where Tahrir al-Sham conducts continuous attacks in order to control areas and points of the National Front.
