On Wednesday, two security sources from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said that the SDF's special units arrested a man suspected of planning and organizing assassinations for the Islamic State (ISIS) in al-Busayrah area in Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
One of the sources said that Mu’een Taha al-Hamad was the mastermind for “the assassinations carried out by ISIS in Deir ez-Zor region, and he is primarily responsible for killing many innocent people, and planned dozens of operations.”

The other source pointed out that “the operation came after months of follow-up and monitoring, where he was arrested on Wednesday evening in disguise in his house in al-Busayrah in Deir ez-Zor accompanied by one of his aides, while helicopters of the U.S.-led Global Coalition provided air surveillance of the house during the operation.”

The SDF continues to pursue ISIS sleeper cells in the northeastern regions of Syria in general, and in Deir ez-Zor in particular, as it arrested four ISIS sleeper agents in Deir ez-Zor in the middle of this month, according to a military source who spoke to North-Press earlier
