On Thursday, Russian and Turkish forces conducted the seventh joint military patrol on the Latakia-Aleppo M4 Highway in Idlib, accompanied by Russian aircraft in the de-escalation zones in northwestern Syria.

A field source in Idlib told North-Press: "Russian and Turkish forces conducted the seventh joint patrol on the M4 highway, starting from the town of Tarenba (4km to the west of Saraqib) and reaching the town of al-Nairab in the eastern countryside of Idlib province."

The joint Russian-Turkish patrol was accompanied by Russian reconnaissance and fighter aircraft.

Earlier, a field source in Idlib told North-Press that on the 26th of this month, Turkish forces, accompanied by members of armed opposition groups, tried to forcibly disperse a sit-in by Idlib protesters and fighters from opposition groups after they refused to allow the passage of Russian military vehicles.

Clashes took place between Turkish forces and the local protesters along with opposition groups on the M4 highway, which resulted in the killing of three people, one of which was an opposition fighter, and the others residents of the region. Five others were also wounded, according to the field source.

Meanwhile, Turkish forces took control of two sit-in points on the highway in the southern Idlib countryside.
