On Monday, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with the support of the Global Coalition, arrested a suspect accused of facilitating Islamic State operations in northeastern Syria.
A military source told North-Press that "during a special operation, forces managed to arrest the accused, who is one of the most prominent individuals transporting weapons and explosives and assisting the cells of the organization to carry out terrorist operations.”
Other sources said that the suspect, the official responsible for coordinating the organization's movements in the town of Jideidet Akedat in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, was arrested on Monday.
Terrorist cells are active in the rural areas of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor, especially after the Turkish attack on northeastern Syria in October of last year, after US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw US forces from Syria.
The SDF, with the support of the Global Coalition, have intensified their operations against leaders and members of the organization spread across large networks in the region.
On Saturday evening, counterterrorism forces affiliated with the SDF arrested two members of the organization’s cells during two separate operations in the city of Raqqa.
