On Thursday, 11 members of the Syrian government forces were killed in an ISIS attack on the border between the governorates of Homs and Deir ez-Zor.
ISIS militants launched an attack on Syrian government forces' vehicles in the area between al-Sukhnah and ash-Shola areas on the administrative border between Homs and Deir ez-Zor, killing 11 members of the government forces, including an officer, and injuring several others, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
On April 9th, ISIS militants attacked Syrian government points in the eastern Homs countryside, where violent clashes and mutual shelling took place, killing 18 regime soldiers and wounding others.
The Russian Air Force retaliated against the ISIS attacks, targeting the points from which the assaults were launched, killing 11 ISIS militants.
ISIS activity has risen in many regions of Syria, especially in the Syrian Desert, and the rate of its operations has increased compared to previous months in conjunction with the imposition of precautionary measures in many Syrian regions in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. Last month, ISIS launched an attack and was able to take control of large areas in the al-Sukhnah countryside before Russian aircraft intervened and bombed the group.
