Two Global Coalition patrols near vital Hasakah and Derik oil fields

On Saturday, the Global Coalition Against ISIS conducted two simultaneous patrols near the most important oil fields in Hasakah and Derik, in northeastern Syria, on the pretext of preventing ISIS from accessing these vital resources.
The Global Coalition's Operation Inherent Resolve Facebook page posted that members of Special Forces patrolled important oil infrastructure near the city of Hasakah.
US President Donald Trump backtracked his decision to withdraw his forces from northern Syria last October in order to protect oil fields.
The post stated that the coalition supports the SDF in protecting the oil fields located in eastern Syria in order to prevent ISIS from accessing the vital resources and revenues that may enable it to gain strength.
The patrol coincided with another Global Coalition patrol of oilfield areas in the city of Derik.
A North-Press reporter said that the patrol roamed the villages around Mount Karachokh south of Derik, where the largest oil fields are located.
Last week, the commander-in-chief of Operation Inherent Resolve, General Pat White, told North Press that American plans in northeastern Syria have not changed, as the coalition continues to support the SDF in the war against ISIS and provides it with intelligence, military, and air support that this phase requires.
