On Tuesday, clashes broke out between militants of two Turkish-backed groups in the countryside of Serekaniye, resulting in casualties on both sides.
Local sources told North-Press that clashes broke out at 6:00 P.M. between militants of the Ahrar al-Sharqiya and al-Mawali group of the al-Hamzat armed group in the town of Tel Halaf, west of Ras al-Ain.
Local sources said that two militants from Ahrar al-Sharqiya and a militant from al-Hamzat were injured due to clashes between the two groups, and the reasons for the clashes are still unknown.
The city of Serekaniye (Ras al-Ain) is witnessing a state of security chaos as a result of groups sharing control over the area and the spread of theft, looting, and frequent clashes between the groups, as well as occasional bombings.
On April 5th, clashes between the two Turkish-backed groups in Serekaniye resulted in deaths and injuries, caused by a dispute over the sharing of shops and houses in the al-Kharabat neighborhood in the city’s north.
On the same day, five members of Ahrar al-Sharqiya were wounded by a car bomb explosion at a checkpoint south of the town of Mabrouka, 38 km southwest of Serekaniye.
In mid-November last year, more than 30 people were killed and wounded when a car bomb exploded in the town of Tel Halaf.
