Unprecedented escalation in Idlib de-escalation zone

On Wednesday morning, an explosion was heard in the village of al-Ghassaniyeh in the western countryside of Idlib, near the M4 Highway, amid clashes between government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in the Aleppo countryside, in conjunction with the flight of Russian warplanes in the sky of the de-escalation area.
After midnight on Tuesday – Wednesday, clashes took place between the Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in Takad in the western countryside of Aleppo, followed by the flight of Russian warplanes in the airspace over the western Aleppo countryside and Idlib countryside.
Meanwhile, government forces bombarded places in areas such as Nusafra, al-Fateira, Sufohn, and the vicinity of Mount al-Zawiya in the southern Idlib countryside, without any reports of injuries.
Since Tuesday, according to a field source, the region has witnessed movements by Syrian government forces on the front, which have been met by responses from Turkish-backed armed opposition groups and Turkish forces.
The latest escalation comes 83 days after the ceasefire agreement signed between Turkey and Russia in early March.
