On his official Twitter account, the official spokesman for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve (CJTF-OIR) (the US-led Coalition against the Islamic State) Col. Myles

B. Caggins denied on Wednesday the delpoyment of Patriot missiles in Syria, and described news and reports that discussed the issue as "fake and unreliable."

Reports circulated that the Global Coalition forces stationed in the Koniko field east of Deir ez-Zor deployed three Patriot missile batteries in the past 48 hours.

Media outlets added that coalition forces expanded their base there, which is the second largest base in Syria, by annexing approximately 247 acres of land surrounding it and placing a wire fence around it, and that the coalition had previously expanded the air base near the field.
