Turkey sends more military reinforcements to Syria’s northwest Idlib, forms operation room

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkey sent four military convoys, including  armored vehicles, tanks, field artillery, ammunition trucks, engineering and logistical equipment to Syria's northwest opposition-held region of Idlib, local sources said on Friday.

The sources added the convoy crossed to Syrian territories through Kafr Lossen border crossing.

The reinforcements were distributed to the Turkish military points and bases in Idlib countryside.

Meanwhile, the Syrian opposition groups operating in Idlib announced the formation of a military operation room, named Fathbatu (meaning Holdout/Resist) aimed at confronting Syrian government forces in the de-escalation zone.

The announcement of the  operation room aims at preventing Syrian government forces from advancing in the countryside of Latakia, Idlib, and Hama  Provinces.

Many staff running the operation room were members of another operation room in the region, named Incite the Believers.

Turkey and Russia, which back opposing sides in Syria's war, agreed on a ceasefire on March 5 following weeks of clashes that brought them to the brink of direct confrontation. Ankara backs rebels fighting against President Bashar al-Assad, and Moscow supports Damascus.
