SDF returns calm to Hasakah, Syria prison after ISIS detainees riot

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Calmness returned to Sena'a prison in Hasakah after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) managed to end the riot that Islamic State (ISIS) members carried out on Monday, taking complete control of the prison.

A source from the SDF told North Press that they managed to control the prison riot completely, and fixed the doors damaged due to the rebellion of the ISIS militants.

A North Press correspondent saw the SDF as they opened the surrounding roads near the prison and stationed some military vehicles and forces there, in conjunction with Global Coalition aircraft flight in the sky over the prison.

A few hours ago, dozens of SDF Special Forces and Self-Defense Duty Forces (conscript forces in North and East Syria) left the prison after they ended the riot, according to the source.

It is worth mentioning that the same prison witnessed riots in March and May. The SDF demanded the establishment of prisons with infrastructure better suited to detain hundreds of ISIS militants. The Global Coalition announced in May that it provided riot control equipment to prison guards.
