Residents of the Kobani countryside intercept a Russian-Turkish patrol

KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the villages in the western countryside of Kobani intercepted a joint patrol between the Russian military police and Turkish forces, on Thursday, and the residents threw stones at Turkish military vehicles.

 

The patrol is the 22nd between Russia and Turkey in the region since Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkey’s Erdogan reached a memorandum of understanding on October 22nd last year, which included conducting joint patrols in the west and east of the Turkish operation area In Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad, northeastern Syria, at a depth of ten kilometers, excluding the city of Qamishli.

 

The patrol, which consisted of eight Russian and Turkish military vehicles, was accompanied by two Russian helicopters, from the village of Ashma, and roamed the villages there up to Tel Shaeer village, west of Kobani.

 

The patrol returned to the starting point in the village of Ashma, where Turkish military vehicles entered the gate near the village of Ashma, while Russian military vehicles returned to its base in the Izaa area west of Kobani
