SDF and Global Coalition launch operation in Hasakah, Syria

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – In a security operation carried out by Syrian Democratic Forces’ (SDF) Special Forces in Hasakah on Sunday, one alleged ISIS member was detained and had all his weapons and military equipment confiscated.

The operation was carried out in conjunction with the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS in the southern Hasakah countryside after SDF received information about the presence of ISIS cells there, a military source from the SDF told North Press.

Earlier, in June, the SDF launched a joint military operation with the Global Coalition called Deterrence of Terrorism  to pursue ISIS cells in southern Hasakah, Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside and the Syrian-Iraqi border.

In a press conference, SDF announced the end of the first stage of the operation, claiming to have arrested 110 suspected ISIS operatives and combed a 175x60km area with the support of the Global Coalition and coordination with the Iraqi military.
