Turkish drone strike in Derbasiya, NE Syria injures local security forces and Russian soldiers
DERBASIYA, Syria (North Press) – A drone targeted a center of the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) south of the town of Derbasiya, northeastern Syria on Thursday, injuring two Russian soldiers and two members of the Asayish in addition to a translator.
Quoting a source from the Asayish, a North Press correspondent stated that a Russian delegation was visiting an Asayish center south of Derbasiya at 5:00 p.m. to enquire about reasons of the explosion of a stun grenade in the same region on Thursday morning.
The source added that 45 minutes later, the center was targeted by a drone that is believed to be Turkish, resulting in five injuries, who were taken to the dispensary of the town and then to the hospitals of the city of Qamishli.
The source said that the injured people are two Russian soldiers and two members of the Asayish, in addition to a translator who was accompanying the Russian delegation.
Near the center of the Asayish forces there is a Russian coordination post about one kilometer south of Derbasiya where it was targeted.
Previously on Thursday, the area witnessed an explosion of a stun grenade, which resulted material damage only.
