Three civilians wounded in fourth explosion in one week in Turkish-occupied Sere Kaniye, Syria

SERE KANIYE, Syria (North Press) –  A motorcycle exploded in the city of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) on Tuesday, wounding three civilians, one of them who remains in critical condition.

Local sources told North Press the explosion was in the vicinity of the city's national hospital, where a motorcycle was parked next to a number of cars in a closed street.

The sources said the explosion wounded three civilians, one of whom is in critical condition, while a pickup truck caught fire. Other cars and a number of nearby shops were damaged.

An IED was planted in a vegetable cart which detonated in the city's market on Sunday, killing eight civilians and wounding 20 others, several of whom were moved to be treated in Turkish hospitals.

The city also witnessed a car bomb explosion this week near the city center, causing material damage.

Another car bomb detonated in al-Jawza roundabout in the city center on July 23, killing five civilians and wounding several others.

Turkish Armed Forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups took control of the cities of Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad and their surrounding countrysides in October of 2019. Since this time, residents in the region have reported complete security chaos and many human rights abuses, including theft, looting, assault, kidnapping and murder.
