Global Coalition and Russia must take responsibility for Turkish drone strike on northeastern Syria’s Qamishli – Internal Security Forces

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) in autonomous North and East Syria said that a Turkish drone was behind the targeting of the SADCOP fuel company in Alaya neighborhood of the city of Qamishli on Thursday, and called on the Global Coalition and the Russia to do their duty as guarantors of the ceasefire agreement with Turkey.

This came in a statement by the General Command of Asayish on Thursday, in which it added that a civilian was injured and transferred to the hospital for treatment.

The Asayish called on the Coalition and the Russia, as guarantors of the ceasefire, to do their duty regarding these repeated crimes aimed at spreading chaos and panic among people.

The statement added, "the targeting caused material damage to the property of civilians in the vicinity and within the company."

Last month, 20 civilians were injured in a Turkish drone strike on Mahata Qadima neighborhood in Qamishli.

Previously, the Internal Security Forces in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria accused Turkey of being behind the targeting of a Russian point south of the town of Dirbesiye in northeastern Syria, which led to the injury of a Russian soldier and three civilians.

Since the Turkish incursions in northern Syria in 2018 on Afrin and 2019 on Serekaniye and Tal Abyad, the border towns of Kobani, Dirbesiye, Amuda, Qamishli, and Derik have been targeted intermittent drone strikes from Turkey.
