UNICEF driver attempts to smuggle ISIS families from Syria’s Hawl camp
HAWL, Syria (North Press) – Documents and footage showed a water tanker driver working with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) trying to smuggle a number of ISIS families from the Hawl camp near Hasakah, northern Syria.
North Press obtained documents show that the driver works for UNICEF, and video shows how the driver hid relatives of ISIS fighters in a hidden room at the bottom of the tank before they were arrested by security forces.
Hawl camp houses about 11,000 women and children of ISIS families from about 54 countries, who are held in a separate section of the camp known as the Section of Foreigners or Muhajirat Women. They are known for being extremist in their views, according to the camp administration.
Earlier on Sunday, North Press published a video showing drivers of water tanks belonging to the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) smuggling ISIS family members from the camp.
