Syrian Artists Gather in Plastic Art Forum in Kobani

The workshop of “Sambuzium” in the city of Kobani/Ein Al Arab will take part in the activities of “Rojava II Forum for Plastic Art”, which opened last Friday and lasts throughout the week, artists from different regions of Syria are participating in drawing different paintings to be a mirror for the seven years of war in Syria.

The artist Jamal Abdul Salam Mohammad, coming from the city of Tal Abyad/Gre Spi explained to “North Press” that he painted a painting “contains a map of Syria and a shining light comes from the city of Afrin, north of Aleppo governorate, pointing out that his painting expresses the symbol of “resistance in ʿAfrin.” This glowing light in the painting is the light of the people who sacrificed their lives for us to live safely, while the tree is a symbol of defense and its shadow covering all parts of Syria.

The plastic artist Muhamad Al Ayash, from the Syrian city of Raqqa, explained that the exhibition and workshop have a special importance under these circumstances in Syria. The meeting of artists from most parts of Syria is a service for the Syrian national thought. He also point out that the forum contributed to exchanging experiences between the participating artists, of whom some followed the surrealist school in its drawings, others followed the socialist realistic school, some of them drawn according to the cubic or adoptive school, and many other schools.

As for artist Hamad Al Ayash, he followed the expressive school in his painting, which he took its title from a novel by Syrian writer and novelist Zakariya Tamer “Damascus Fires”.  Ayyash says: “I call it” Syria the Fire, “and work to be a painting of what happened to our country of fragmentation, and the impact of regional and international forces on our people.”
The participating artists see the forum as an opportunity to present their message to the world through their paintings and works of art.

In this context, artist Picasso (after the Spanish artist Babylon Ruiz Picasso) from the city of Tal Abyad, said that the participants presented their feelings about the issues of war and co-existence, explaining that the forum also presented a message that the peoples in this region will continue existing and remain despite wars and tragedies.

Last Friday in Norouz Hall in Kobani, the activities of the second Rojava forum for plastic art started under the slogan “The will of the olive country is stronger than your terrorism”, with the participation of 26 plastic artists from cities north and east of Syria.
