On Sunday, at “Baqi Kheddo Center” for Culture and Arts in the city of Kobani, northern Syria, an art exhibition entitled “Lost Lines” was opened by the students of the center after about five months of training and instructing on drawing.
20-year-old teacher Zahreddin Abdah, a graduate of the “Yakta Hercule Academy” for Arts in Al-Jazira region, told North-Press that he started training a group of students on drawing about five months ago, indicating that the exhibition is a product of the works of the students who had been trained during that period.
Abdah added that the students who were trained liked painting and had talent, but lacked good knowledge of its techniques.
The three-day exhibition included about 50 paintings drawn with ink, charcoal, pencil, and colors. Nine students, aged between 27 and 16 years old have participated, each one presented five to six paintings.
The importance of training
Helena Abbas, 19 years old student, a participant in the exhibition said that she began to learn drawing in the center, and with continuous training and practicing, she was eventually able to draw seven drawings of charcoal about women and their role in society, of which she has participated in this collective exhibition.
The exhibition witnessed a high turnout by people interested in culture, as well as parents of the students participating in the exhibition, amid criticism of the narrowness of the gallery in the center.
Abeer Abbas, 17 years old student, also participated in the exhibition with six charcoal, colors and pencil paintings, said that each painting took two weeks to be completed, she added that the center gave them the available tools for free, referring to the lack of some tools in the center as she required to be provided to students in order to improve and develop their talents.
New Courses
The “Baqi Kheddo Center” is preparing now to open two new drawing courses in a move aiming to develop young talents, in this regard, the co-chair of the Center for Culture and Arts in Kobani “Osman Baki” explained that through these activities the center aims to encourage children and the young people, develop their talents by opening music and painting courses.
