Cultural tent as a series of activities for Afrin IDPs in northern Aleppo countryside

A cultural activity under the title of “Cultural Tent” was held yesterday evening for the displaced people of Afrin in northern countryside of Aleppo, in the attendance of prominent figures of the Autonomous Administration, parties and intellectuals.
The event, which was held by Afrin Intellectuals Union, had included several different activities on its first day, starting with discussing the political situation and exchanging views between the attendees. The activities were followed by displaying a short film entitled “The City of Peace Asks”, which was prepared by Intellectuals Union regarding the violent practices by Turkey in its war against the region of Afrin, in addition to the recitation of poetry, songs and playing Afrin’s popular heritage music.
Avesta Ibrahim, the co-chair of Afrin Intellectuals Union told North-Press that the aim of the event was “to consolidate Afrin’s culture and heritage among Afrin’s IDPs and preserve it from disappearing.”
The event will last for several days to present cultural activities including traditional singing and folkloric dancing in the camps and villages inhabited by Afrin IDPs in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
For his part, Rebar Mustafa, an attendee at the event told North-Press: “The event bears a message that people of Afrin love peace and they want to live freely in their city”, pointing out that, “Turkey and its affiliate armed groups conduct the policy of demographic change in Afrin region.”
