The Yazidi House centers have held summer courses to teach Yazidi children the instructions of their religion in several cities of al-Jazira region in north and eastern Syria. The Autonomous Administration has appointed 25 teachers for this purpose and printed the curriculum of the Yazidi religion in the Kurdish language after it was being taught orally.
About 35 Yazidi children receive their religion teachings at the Yazidi House centers, in Hasakah, Turba Spi / al-Qahtaniya and Qazla Jokh village in Amuda countryside.
A Yazidi religion teacher in the village of Qazla Jokh said to North-Press that the Yazidi religion has been taught orally for thousands of years by religious and elderly people within house only, explaining that many of these teachings disappeared with the death of these instructors.
Teaching curriculum
The teaching curriculum of Yazidi religion in the Kurdish language consists of six levels in addition to the teaching of good morals, cleanliness, honesty and respect for parents.
An opportunity to spread the teachings
Dilshan Jaafo, another teacher of the Yazidi religion’s curriculum, who has displaced from Afrin, said: “In the past, the Yazidi religion were not allowed to be taught in schools, and Yazidis were forced to learn the instructions of Islamic relegion, but today our children have got the opportunity to learn their religion.”
It’s noteworthy that the Yazidi religion wasn’t allowed to be taught in the cities and regions of Yazidis until now.
Sinjar/Shingal area of Iraq, which is full of Yazidi temples, was heavily attacked on 3 August 2014 by the Islamic State (ISIS), in addition, many other Yazidi villages in northern Syria were invaded and subjected to displacement.
Residents of about 22 Yazidi villages in Afrin countryside were displaced during the attack by Turkish forces and its affiliated armed groups.
