Manbij and its countryside are free of coronavirus: Health Committee in N/E Syria
MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – The Associate Co-President of Manbij Health Committee, Fatma Hasan, said that Manbij city and its countryside are free of any infections with coronavirus.
Hasan added on Tuesday in a statement to North Press that medical teams of the Manbij Health committee will examine those who arrive to Manbij city through the crossings.
The Health Committee of Manbij will begin a sterilization campaign of the city streets and Autonomous Administration institutions in the coming days, according to Hasan.
The Associate Vice-Presidency of Manbij Health Committee confirmed that although many precautionary measures to prevent the coronavirus outbreak were implemented, "Manbij's markets were crowded during Eid al-Adha."
On Wednesday the Health Board of Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria recorded 20 new infections with coronavirus in Jazira Region, Deir ez-Zor, and the northern countryside of Aleppo, of which one case died in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which brings the number of infections to 50 cases.
Tayha (Abu Kahef) crossing, southwest of Manbij city, connects Manbij Civil Administration-held areas to Syrian government-held areas in Aleppo, while Um Jelud and Awon Dadat crossings connect the north and west of the civil Administration areas to Euphrates shield areas which are controlled by Turkish-backed armed opposition groups.
