Euphrates region free of coronavirus – Crisis Team in Kobani
KOBANI, Syria (North Press) – Co-chair of the Executive Council and the spokesperson for the Crisis Team in the Euphrates region, Muhammad Shaheen, said on Tuesday that no infections with coronavirus have yet been recorded in the Euphrates region.
In a special statement to North Press after a meeting held by the Crisis Team in the city of Kobani, Shaheen said that they made a number of decisions, recommendations, and preventative measures regarding the response to coronavirus, including ensuring the readiness of health and quarantine centers for receiving suspected cases of the virus.
During the curfew, the Health Board in the Euphrates region prepared four quarantine centers distributed in the city of Kobani and its countryside to deal with the infected and suspected cases of the virus.
The Local Administration and Environment Board in Kobani will carry out sterilization campaigns in public institutions and places after securing the necessary materials during the coming days, according to Shaheen.
The Crisis Team in the region instructed the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) to prevent gatherings in public places, prevent concerts, wakes, gatherings in places of worship, close cafeterias and gardens, and prevent gatherings in restaurants, Shaheen stated.
He also noted that they informed the people not to travel outside the region, not to carry out social visits, and to prevent hospital visits except for necessity.
Regarding the non-suspension of university hours at the University of Kobani until now, Shaheen said that “the university hours are nearing completion and final exams are being done.”
The Education Board in the Euphrates region announced on Monday the suspension of working hours for high school students in the schools of Kobani and its countryside and the countryside of Tel Abyad, in addition to the suspension of working hours at the Martyr Zozan Institute for Teachers’ Preparation and the Academy of Specialization of the Education Board to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
