Autonomous Administration in NE Syria sets New preventive measures to confront the spread of coronavirus

Qamishli, Syria (North Press) – The Autonomous  Administration of North and East Syria set, on Friday, new preventive measures to limit the spread of coronavirus in its areas of control, after announcing, on Thursday, four cases of COVID19 infection in the cities of Qamishli and Hasakah.

 

This came in a decision issued by the Executive Board of the Autonomous Administration, under which all border crossings with the northeastern regions of Syria were completely closed from Friday.

 

 According to the decision, all humanitarian cases entering the area will be subject to a 14 – day – quarantine. Besides, funerals of deaths due to coronavirus are forbidding from the entry to the Administration’s areas of control.

 

Moreover, the procedures include banning popular and religious gatherings, such as ceremonies, weddings, and condolence tents, and suspending collective prayers in places of worship until further notice.

 

The decision throughout its period that extends for 15 days, allow restaurants to continue their services, provided that their work should be restricted only to external delivery orders, while maintaining social-distancing.

 

The Autonomous Administration  stressed that the residents of the region should adhere to the protective measures  and social-distancing  in places of work and public places. It urged its institutions in the crossings to take strict health measures on goods and people.

 

On Thursday, Health Board of the Autonomous Administration announced four infections with coronavirus in Qamishli and Hasakah, out of ten people suspected of having the virus, after taking medical samples for them in the PCR central laboratory in Qamishli.
