Women protest in front of Global Coalition base condemning Turkish bombing
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – Kongra-STAR, a confederation of women’s movements in northern Syria organized a protest in front of a Global Coalition northwest of Hasakah, on Saturday. The protest condemned the Turkish drone strike in the village of Helinj, east of Kobani, on June 23.
The Turkish air strike on Heinj village resulted in the deaths of at least three women, one of whom was an activist and leader in Kongra-STAR.
Avin Basho, the co-chair of Kongra-STAR, read a statement condemning Turkish intervention in the region and the strike in Kobani.
They asked the Global Coalition to stop the Turkish violations in the region of northeast Syria.
Samer Abdullah, a staff member of Kongra Star, told North Press that “we protest as a result of the recent Turkish massacre against Kobani’s women; this massacre is part of series of crimes by the Turks against our people in northeast Syria in general and women in particular.”
A protesters’ delegation met with the representative of the Global Coalition, known as Miss Emily, inside the base, and demanded the Coalition stop Turkish interference in the region, according to women participating in the protest.
