TEL TAMR, Syria (North Press) – A fire broke out in the agricultural lands in the vicinity of the Russian base in the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah, on Wednesday, which called the fire brigade in the municipality of the town to intervene and put it out.
A North Press reporter quoting eyewitnesses said that the armed opposition groups opened fire indiscriminately from the villages of Qasimiya and Rashidiya, north of Tel Tamr, which are under their control.
The source added the gunfire led to the burning of agricultural lands between the village of Um al-Keif and the Russian base north of the town.
The reporter stated that the fire brigade in the People’s Municipality of Tel Tamr rushed to reach the place of the fire and put it out before it reached the electricity transmission station near the Mabaqer station.
The Russian forces are stationed at Mabaqer station after the withdrawal of the US forces from the area in October 2019.
This is the second time fire has broken out in the vicinity of the Russian base in Tel Tamr, where the first time was on June 9.
The area of Tel Tamr has witnessed fires in agricultural fields since the beginning of the agricultural season of this year. Locals accuse the Turkish army and its armed opposition groups of arson, especially in the villages under their control, which witness daily outbreaks of crop fires.
