DAMASCUS, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Syrian Ministry of Health announced seven new coronavirus infections in the town of Ras Ma`ra in Damascus countryside, bringing the number of recorded cases to 177.

The ministry’s statement stressed that no new deaths were recorded, leaving the total number of deaths at six.

The Ministry announced six new coronavirus infections and three recovered cases on Saturday.

Last week the Syrian government imposed a quarantine in Ras Ma`ra town, due to the large number of coronavirus infections as a result of an infected truck driver working on the Syria-Jordan highway.

On June 8, the University of Aleppo imposed a quarantine on eight students, some of whom came from Ras Ma`ra, suspected of having the virus.
