On Friday, the Syrian Response Coordinators Team announced the documentation of the return of 267,649 displaced to "relatively safe" areas in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib, northwestern Syria, since the ceasefire was declared on March 5th.
In a statement posted on its Facebook, the Response Coordinators Team said that the aforementioned number is less than expected for the return movement to the region.
The team attributed the reasons to the violations committed by the Syrian regime and their failure to withdraw from areas such as Maarat al-Numan and its countryside, Saraqeb, and areas in Hama countryside, as well as the poor humanitarian response of organizations working in Idlib governorate.
The team called on all organizations and humanitarian bodies for an urgent response to help the returnees coming from several areas to both Aleppo and Idlib governorates.
On May 7th, the team counted the return of 21,890 displaced people to their villages and towns in the countryside of Aleppo and Idlib.
The team has previously called for improving the camps scattered in the region, as more than 6,355 families within 73 camps were affected during the rainfalls and storms last winter.
