"Money for Work" project secures job opportunities for dozens in Kobani

On Sunday, the Water Directorate in Kobani district, in cooperation with the global "Concern" organization started implementing the "Money for Work" project for a period of three months.
The co-chair of the Water Directorate in Kobani district, Khalil Muhammad said to North Press that the number of the workers benefiting from the "Money for Work" project is 40, including 18 women, over a period of three months.
Muhammad added that the workers will work five hours a day in cleaning water tanks and installing 2,000 counters in the city and its countryside, in addition to installing domestic water tanks.
The workers will receive a daily salary of $7 for each working day from the global "Concern" organization, while the water directorate will supervise the workers.
For his part, Ayoub Sheikho, one of the beneficiaries of the project, explained that the project provided job opportunities for them in light of the bad economic conditions in the region, especially after the imposition of curfews due to coronavirus.
Sheikho called for extending the duration of the project to six months, "so that the benefit will be greater for the workers because they need to work, in addition to increasing the number of the workers so that they can benefit in order to secure their living."
The Kobani Relief and Development Organization (a civil non-governmental organization) implemented the "Money for Work" project, in May 2019 with the support of the Norwegian NPA organization, as it provided job opportunities for 112 workers, 70% of them are woman working to support their families for three months, as the workers planted trees, cared for gardens, and increased green areas in the city of Kobani.
