After allowing inter-governorate travel for three days, the Syrian Ministry of Interior announced yesterday, Saturday, that the travel ban between governorates would be extended until further notice.

In a statement quoted by the Syrian government’s official news agency SANA, the Ministry of Interior said, “The decision comes as part of the precautionary measures taken by the government to address the new coronavirus due to its concern for the health and safety of citizens.”

The government team dealing with the outbreak of the new coronavirus allowed transportation between governorates on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, from the 30th of April to the 2nd of May, for one time only.

On Saturday the Syrian Ministry of Health announced that the governorates of Damascus and Daraa were free of infections, and that the cases in Damascus governorate had recovered.
