On Tuesday, dozens of people left two quarantine centers in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, after completing the quarantine period and conducting medical examinations and tests to ensure that they did not have coronavirus.

They entered the quarantine after coming from the Syrian capital Damascus about 15 days ago as part of the measures imposed by the Autonomous Administration on those coming from outside its areas.

Rojin Abdul-Aziz Ahmed, an official in the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria, told North-Press that 26 people have left al-Rawabi quarantine center after completing the quarantine period and conducting the necessary medical examinations, including PCR analysis on a sample of people in the center.

Ahmed added that all the results of the tests were negative and none of the individuals was recorded carrying coronavirus; six people left al-Sahara center who were suspected of being infected with the virus, but the tests showed negative results.

Ahmed said: "54 people have been subjected to quarantine in Alaya School since the first batch of arrivals from Damascus arrived at Qamishli airport, and they left the quarantine last Sunday after completing the quarantine period and ensuring their safety.

"We have begun to sterilize all quarantine centers after they departed, and now we are completing the logistical deficiencies necessary for these centers," she said.

Qamishli, the largest city in the region, includes only two quarantine centers that were hastily established by the Autonomous Administration in the recent period.

The Autonomous Administration areas face severe medical shortages, especially with the lack of support from international organizations and the absence of aid provided from the WHO, which constitutes a new threat to the residents of the region, while the local authorities have repeatedly appealed to the international community to provide aid in light of fears of the spread of the virus.
