On Wednesday, the Chinese government sent to Syria a medical aid package for the detection of the novel coronavirus that has infected many countries around the world.

Deputy of the Syrian Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ministry Faisal Miqdad expressed Syria's appreciation for China's stances and the medical assistance provided to the Syrian people, which represents a true expression of the People's Republic of China’s keenness to help Syria and all countries of the world in confronting coronavirus.

In turn, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Damascus, Feng Biao, said that the medical aid consists of test kits to diagnose coronavirus, which is the first batch to be provided to Syria, and other batches will follow.

The ambassador added that there was previously an exchange of medical experiences via Internet between doctors in hospitals in both countries regarding the response to the virus.

Deputy Minister of Health Ahmed Khalifawi noted that the medical aid provided by China contributes to the support of the health system in Syria, which has suffered a lot as a result of being subjected to terrorist acts and unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.
