In coordination with the local council of the town, the fuel committee in al-Shaddadi, south of Hasakah, northeastern Syria, distributed gasoline to residents in order to avoid gatherings in front of fuel stations.

Ali al-Sayyed, member of the fuel committee in al-Shaddadi town, said to North Press that they have coordinated with the local council and the management of line distribution to distribute gasoline to residents, where each family got 200 liters for SYP 100 per liter.

According to al-Sayyed, they carried out this process in order to avoid residents' gatherings in front of fuel stations, saying: "We have delivered gasoline to the local councils in the town and its countryside, which in turn started distributing it to the residents."

Awwad al-Aziz, member of the local council of al-Shaddadi's eastern countryside, said that this method of distribution is the healthiest in terms of preventing the outbreak of coronavirus.

He added that residents are in need of this vital substance because the majority of them use it for cooking and household needs.

al-Aziz said that the process of distribution will last for a month in order to stem the crisis of people gathering to attain the resource.

Previously, fuel stations in al-Shaddadi town witnessed a high demand for gasoline because of the lack of the substance and the rise in its price in the black market, as the price of one liter reached SYP 300.
