On Tuesday, the People's Municipality of the Autonomous Administration in the town of Derik, northeastern Syria, resumed the sterilization campaign of the town’s markets, as part of the campaign launched as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
The co-chair of the People's Municipality in Derik, Vermez Hamo, told North-Press that they had finished sterilizing the institutions, internal centers, mosques, and churches in the first stage and started the first part of the second stage that includes the vegetable market and the central market.
Hamo attributed the delay in completing the sterilization campaign to bad weather, pointing out that during this week or the next one, they will complete the second part of the second stage of the campaign, as they will sterilize the alleys, streets, entrances of the city and checkpoints after the medicine arrives from the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration.
Sterilization campaigns which were started by the People's Municipality in Derik stopped since the 26th of March as a result of rainfall in the area.
