The Health Board of the Autonomous Administration in al-Jazira Region has designated eight schools and wedding halls as quarantine centers to receive newcomers to northeastern Syria, as part of the measures to prevent the outbreak of coronavirus.
The co-chair of the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration in al-Jazira Region, Dr. Raparin, told North-Press that the quarantine for newcomers will continue for 14 days, and it is possible to increase the number of these centers as needed.
She added that these centers are free of charge and provided with logistical and health services, where the medical teams conduct a daily examination of those in the center to ensure their safety.
In less than a week, Qamishli Airport, in the northeast of the country, received three flights arriving from the Syrian capital Damascus, which carried hundreds of passengers, most of whom were transferred to quarantine centers, while some others escaped.
On the arrival of the third flight, a North-Press correspondent reported that the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) returned 11 passengers to the medical test point while they were trying to get out of the airport through roads controlled by the Syrian government.
The Internal Security Forces stated in a statement last Friday that its patrols arrested two women attempting to escape from Qamishli Airport.
Regarding the possibility of discovering the infected people in the quarantine centers, the co-chair said that they have designated other centers to transfer the suspected cases, and if the infection is confirmed, they will be transferred to hospitals designated for treatment.
Last Wednesday, in a statement posted on their official Facebook page, The Health Board of the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria held the Syrian government responsible for the emergence of any infections with coronavirus in its areas, because the government failed to adhere to the preventive measures and continued to send travelers to the areas of the Autonomous Administration.
The Autonomous Administration imposed a lockdown which will continue until April 21st, as part of its precautionary measures against coronavirus, in conjunction with its occasional assertions that no infections are recorded throughout
