On Wednesday, the General Department of the Environment in the Euphrates region began the third phase of the sterilization campaign in the city of Kobani, which included storefronts, sidewalks, and walls, as part of the preventative measures to confront the risks of the outbreak of coronavirus.

The co-chair of the General Department of the Environment in the Euphrates region, Samir Ali, told North-Press that the sterilization process runs from five to eight o’clock in the evening, adding that they have received 240 liters of methanol from the Kobani Organization for Relief and Development.

On March 26th, the People's Municipality of Kobani and the General Department of the Environment in the Euphrates region began a campaign to clean and sterilize the main streets with the participation of 25 workers.

Mustafa Akkari, an official in the Kobani Organization for Relief and Development, said that as a part of contribution, they have provided sterilization materials and preventative medical supplies in addition to mercury and laser thermometers to the Health Board.

Akkari added that they handed out educational brochures about coronavirus to bakery owners to be distributed with bread bundles, noting that with the support of the Norwegian NPA organization, they will also deliver preventative medical supplies to the IDP camp in the town of Tal al-Samen in the Ein-Issa area.

The same campaign was also launched in Serrin by the People's Municipality in the town.

On March 16th, Autonomous Administration institutions were sterilized by the Health Board in the Euphrates region in coordination with the People’s Municipality of Kobani and the General Department of the Environment.

On March 15th, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria decided to suspend all of its official departments and institutions from the 16th to 19th of March in order to sterilize them.

Last Monday, the Autonomous Administration announced the extension of the curfew in all its areas for another 15 days, starting from April 7th until April 21st, as a precautionary measure against coronavirus.
