On Saturday, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria decided to close all schools, institutes and universities to students and teachers until further notice to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Last Thursday, the Autonomous Administration in Northeastern Syria issued a decree cancelling all gatherings in the Administration areas and banning non-residents from entering the region via border crossings, allowing residents to enter every Tuesday.
The statement pointed out that the decision to completely close Semalka border crossing with the Kurdistan region of Iraq will continue to be implemented until further notice.
Last month, the administration of the Semalka crossing established a medical inspection point to examine travelers coming from the Kurdistan region of Iraq to avoid the spread of the coronavirus, and the Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration has not recorded any cases of the virus.
