On Tuesday, Hope Makers Organization launched a training project called "Innovation,” to develop the capabilities and vocational training for the amputees in the city of Raqqa.
The project aims to rehabilitate the war-wounded people who lost their limbs during the control of the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) over the region and the battles that were carried out in.
The executive director of Hope Makers Organization, Mahmoud al-Hadi told North-Press that the number of beneficiaries in the first phase of the project was 60 people, 15 of whom will be trained on electronics and electrical maintenance, and 45 others will be trained in office management, secretarial and accounting, in addition to human resource development.
Al-Hadi added that the aim of this project is to provide comfortable job opportunities for the amputees because of their inability to do hard work.
"The duration of the project is 35 days, during which the trainees undergo focused programs, qualifying them to integrate into the work, as the organization will provide job opportunities for them at the end of the project," according to al-Hadi.
Regarding the nature of the organization's work, al-Hadi explained that they worked for a whole year without any support and they have installed 54 prostheses, most of them for children. “We also performed 40 amputation correction operations, in addition to conducting many surgeries for the war-wounded people," he said.
The coordinator of Adrenaline Organization for people with special needs in Raqqa, Saleh al-Darwish said: "The problem of disability is considered as normal globally, but it has a special nature in the city of Raqqa, due to the number of wounded people as a result of the war that the city went through and the landmines that were planted by ISIS, causing permanent disabilities for many people in the city.”
According to al-Darwish, the number of children affected in Raqqa is more than 1,000, as he called for supporting these children and preparing them to assist themselves, before these disabilities turn into psychological problems that are difficult to deal with.
Hope Makers Organization, which was established in December 2018, takes care of the amputees and the war casualties in Raqqa.
