The Energy Authority of the Autonomous Administration of northeastern Syria is nearing completion of the power operation project at al-Jibsa station, 18 km east of the town of Shaddadi, in southern Hasakah. Al-Jibsa power station consists of three gas turbines with a capacity of 30 mw, in addition to the power transmission station for the main network, according to Mustafa Suleiman, head of the Department of Transportation and Energy Distribution in al-Jazira region, in northeastern Syria.
Suleiman indicated that al-Jibsa station will supply the oil wells in the area, in addition to supplying the southern regions of Hasakah, reaching to the power station of the town of Markadah. He said that the power station has been equipped 95%, noting that the gas turbines will be operational in the next few days.
Salman al-Dayeh, an electrical technician at al-Jibsa station explained that they are nearing the completion of the project, stressing that the turbines will be fully operational as soon as possible, if they do not face any obstacles. Al-Dayeh indicated that during the next two days, the first turbine through which the town of al-Shaddadi and its countryside will be fully powered, will be operated, then the rest of the turbines that will supply the oil wells in the region, and the station of Markadah will be powered.
The director general of the directorate Akram Suleiman, told North-Press in late September of 2019 that the construction of the power station in al-Jibsa has been started since March 2019. He added that the work was divided into three main stages (installation of three gas turbines with a capacity of 30 mw, transfer power station of 66 KV, linking the power station line 66 between al-Jibsa station and the city of Hasakah).
