A dialogue seminar was held yesterday in the town of Amude, northeastern Syria, on the occasion of the Yazidi fasting feast under the slogan: "Tolerance, Love and Brotherhood of Faith among Religions.” The seminar, which was organized by the Bureau of Religions Affairs at the "Aso Center for Strategic Studies", focused on Yazidi fasting, the importance of religions and their culture, in addition to the axis of the Islamic religion and the way of dealing in social life, and another axis on the Christian religion and some beliefs, according to what was reported by Ilham Matly, the member of the Legislative Council of al-Jazira region, who is from the Syriac component.

Ms. Matly indicated that the seminar was "valuable" in terms of discussions, adding: "Through discussions and dialogues which took place in the seminar, it is confirmed that there is a close interrelationship among religions, where the Yazidi’s fasting coincides with the fasting of the Christian religion.” She pointed that the existence of religions is a moral existence and not a distinction among the peoples, as she stated, noting that the current distinction among the people, "is the result of policies which were practiced on people, to facilitate control over them.”

For his part, Jubeir Sheikh Sulayman, the co-chair of the Bureau of Religions Affairs said the purpose of holding the dialogue seminar was to create an atmosphere of love and tolerance among all religions, noting that the seminar was "positive", as he said.

Fasting among the followers of the Yazidi religion has begun on Monday, where the celebration of the "Great Fasting Day" will be held after three days of fasting, as this year it coincides on December the 20th.
