In a statement, the Body of the Elders and Notables in north-eastern Syria has confirmed what is taking place in northern Syria is a Turkish invasion aimed at reviving the Ottoman State, where the peoples of the region have suffered from its colonization for four centuries, and only found humiliation, looting and pillage.

The statement was issued after a meeting of the Council of Elders and Notables in northeastern Syria which was held in Kobani on Friday, and attended by more than 60 tribal leaders and notables in both Euphrates and Al-Jazira regions, and cities of Manbij, Raqqa and Tabqa to discuss the situation in northern Syria under the Turkish military operation.

"Remnants of ISIS and Jihadists"

The final statement said that in its invasion, Turkey uses the remnants of the Islamic State terrorist group (ISIS) and jihadists which the entire world have witnessed the scale of their brutality, as the components of the region suffered from their practices, calling on the components of the regions to stand with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Speaking at the meeting, the co-chair of the Euphrates Executive Council Anwar Muslim said that the time has come to bring Syria into safety and to return the displaced and refugees to their homes, pointing out that the Autonomous Administration has become a model for all Syrians to live in a society freely and with dignity.

Demographic change and revival of the Ottoman State

Anwar Muslim also stressed that the Turkish regime aims in its military attack on the region to restore the glories of the Ottoman state in a new form, and to bring about a demographic change by bringing strangers to the region and displacing the original inhabitants of Kurds, Arabs, Turkmen and Armenians.

Going beyond the denial

Meanwhile, Muslim Bozan, the spokesman of the Elders Committee in Kobani said that Damascus "must go beyond the denial mentality towards the issues of the nation, especially the issues of the people and the political system.”
