"Free Burma Rangers” has begun distributing aid on Friday to the internally displaced people from Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tal Abyad (Gre Spi) in the city of Kobani and its countryside. “Free Burma Rangers” director David Eubank announced on Monday in a ceremony honoring the medical staff of Martyr Legarin's Hospital in Tal Tamr, the move of their team to Kobani to help the local and displaced people in the region.
Distribution of food baskets
Mohammad Ahmad, a member of "Free Burma Rangers" told North Press that, they have arrived in Kobani on Thursday evening to provide aid for the IDP families in Kobani and its countryside, noting that they have distributed food baskets to 100 families today, and they will continue providing aid to about 1,500 families that include food baskets, blankets and bedspreads.
Ahmad added that, the organization is carrying out two jobs, the first team is on the front lines of the military fronts with fighters and civilians fleeing the war zones, and the second team supports the displaced people from war zones, where the organization provided aid to the IDPs from Ras al-Ain in al-Tuweina area between Hasakah and Tal Tamr.
Ahmad noted that, the organization has psychosocial support programs for children, in addition to providing medical assistance and medicines, pointing out that the organization will stay for a week in Kobani and will return to the areas of northeastern Syria.
Ahmad confirmed that, the aim of the organization’s arrival at Kobani is to provide humanitarian assistance in the first place, and has nothing to do with the aspect of the presence in the area of military fronts.
1,000 IDP families in Kobani and its countryside
For her part, the co-chair of the Office of Humanitarian Affairs in the Euphrates Region, Berivan Issa said that, the aid which came from "Free Burma Rangers" will be distributed to the IDPs from Tal Abyad and Ras al-Ain, noting that the office has documented the names of about 1,000 IDP families in Kobani and its countryside.
Issa appealed to all local organizations in Kobani to help them in distributing aid to the displaced people, especially the advent of winter.
Distribution of blankets and bedspreads next week
In turn, Omar Firas, the member of AVC International (Christian Church Support) explained that the organization with the help of "Free Burma Rangers", and in coordination with the Office of Humanitarian Affairs in the Euphrates Region have started to distribute relief items to the IDPs today, noting that they are now distributing food baskets to the IDPs, and they will distribute blankets and bedspreads "sponges and blankets" to all families over the next week.
For his part, Khalil Mohammad Nabo, an IDP from the countryside of Tal Abyad to Kobani, said that they left behind all their needs during the displacement, pointing out that Turkish-backed armed opposition groups which entered their areas, had looted all the properties of their houses, adding that they are staying in an uninhabitable house along with other three families in Kobani.
Nabo added that, they have received food from the organization, and they have many needs, such as baby milk, medicines, heaters and fuel, mattresses and electrical appliances, because they went out of their houses without bringing these things with them, pointing out that the food aid which they have received is enough for ten days.
