Protests in Idlib condemning decisions of “Salvation Government”

The city of Idlib witnessed a night demonstration on Saturday evening, which roamed the streets of the city, condemning the “Salvation Government” and its decisions, and against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS).

Hundreds people from the city of Idlib and held a demonstration in the center of the city, while raising banners condemning the decisions of the Salvation Government, the political wing of HTS, which controls most of Idlib governorate.  

A displaced person from Hama who is now in Idlib, identified himself as Abu Shadi, told North-Press: "We participated in this demonstration to reject the decisions issued by the Salvation Government which reduce the hours of electricity service, the so-called Salvation Government issued a decision today to reduce the hours of the electricity service in the city".

The decision of the Salvation Government had been issued after the rise of fuel prices in the markets, which rose with the first days of the start of the Turkish military invasion and the affiliated Syrian opposition groups in northern Syria.

According to local sources, HTS by its both civil arms, the Salvation Government and economic arm are monopolizing resources in northwestern Syria.   

While monthly income estimated at US $7,5 million, but "these revenues and funds aren't being used to improve service conditions or cope with the humanitarian disasters", according to reports from the region.

After taking control of Bab al-Hawa crossing in July 2017 and then, al-Ghazawiya crossing near Darat Izza in January 2019, HTS monopolized the imports and trade of many goods that provide high monthly profits, according to the same sources.  

Areas under the control of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) are witnessing ongoing demonstrations against the Salafist-Jihadist organization, and its political wing i.e. the Salvation Government, which imposes taxes on the population frequently.
