A fast Internet service to be launched in Aleppo in the upcoming days

The city of Aleppo is witnessing a state of anticipation for the launch of optic Internet service in the next few days, as it is the fastest Internet service in Syria, where its connectivity speed is twice the speed of the Asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) service, the one available in the city now.
Jalal Moussali, an employee at Aleppo Postal Corporation, told North-Press that the service is almost completed and will be launched soon, stressing that it was “installed in several neighborhoods of the city, while the process is still on in other neighborhoods”.
Moussali pointed out that “the installation process requires setting new land lines, since the service depends on optic cables”.
He stressed that the new service is the best one in providing Internet service, television and communications for homes; (Voice, Internet, IPTV).
Moussali added that the service will be on two types, of which the first is (Dual Play), which will be under limited categories of speed by using of packages, which are 8-10–16Mbps at a cost of 14,800-17,800–23,800 Syrian pounds.
While the second type (Triple Play) will be as same as the first type, but at other prices, explaining that when a subscriber consumes the entire package, the service does not go off, rather, the download speed is reduced, until he recharges his subscription.
Khalid Awash, a subscriber of ADSL home internet service in Aleppo, told North-Press that the new service that the company tends to install “will not benefit 80% of the subscribers due to its high price, while an ADSL bill is 1,800 SYP per month for 1Mbps”.
He continued that “the price of the lowest speed of the new internet service, is 14,800 SYP, which is equivalent to the salary of a month of a government employee”.
According to the classification of “Cable” website, Syria was ranked as the fourth worst Internet service in the world for 2018, an average speed of 0,8Mbps. Thus, subscribers need 13 hours to download a high-quality movie. While at the same time, Singapore took the first place in the world as having the fastest Internet service in the world.
