Equipping a medical center to treat cancer patients in Qamishli

The Health Authority of the Autonomous Administration in al-Jazira region (an administrative division comprising Hasakah and Qamishli) is preparing a medical center for treating cancer patients in the city of Qamishli.
“Cancer patients will be treated at the center as therapeutic doses will be administered by the Health Authority,” the co-chairperson of Health Authority in al-Jazira region Dr. Manal Muhammad told North-Press in an exclusive statement, pointing out that “patients should be diagnosed at private medical clinics first, as they will be undergoing treatment at the center”.
Regarding the process of equipping the center, in terms of meeting the needs of cancer patients, Dr. Muhammed explained that the center will include the ward of ambulance, X-ray and nursing, noting that the center will provide the necessary medicine for cancer patients according to its capabilities.
Regarding the capacity of the center and the possibilities of treatment, the co-chairman of the Health Authority Dr. Manal Muhammad said that the center “will receive patients from al-Jazira region as well as all areas of northeastern Syria”, noting that the cost of the center “was about 100 thousand euros, about 193 thousand dollars”.
According to the co-chairman of the Health Authority, the center aims to “reduce costs burden of cancer patients”, where the treatment will be “at an affordable price”.
It is worth mentioning that cancer patients in north and eastern of Syria are treated in Damascus, and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, bearing the high costs of periodical travel.
