The Transportation Office of the Interior Committee of Raqqa Civil Council is registering public, private and government vehicles as part of the work program aimed at documenting and proving ownership of all vehicles in the city.
Regarding the purpose of the registration process and its mechanism, the director of the Transportation Office in Raqqa Ismail Mohammed Ahmi, explained that the office was formed from a set of expertise in this area, in order to preserve the properties of citizens, especially after the crisis that was in the city, and the absence of censorship over vehicles’ ownership.
After the formation of the Transportation Office on May 23 last year, the office started registering cars in the city of Raqqa.
Ahmi explained: “The first traffic facilitation license was granted in the city of Raqqa on August 18 last year, where the office started its actual work@, pointing out that the office registers all duty-paid, uncustomed and official vehicles, whether belonging to the Civil or Military Council, he said: “We register all sorts of vehicles, and in order to facilitate the work of Raqqa Customs Office and Traffic office they have been moved to the transportation yard to audit the vehicles”.
The Directorate of Transportation consists of a group of offices, which work sequentially to facilitate the work and ensure the ownership of citizens, starting with the row-arranging office to ensure regular access of vehicles to the transport yard, then the audit office to match the vehicle numbers, enter the data and archive it. After that, the citizen gets a card proving his ownership of the vehicle, and if it is duty-paid they maintain its main license plate, or if the vehicle is unaccustomed it is provided with a new license plate where a group of specialists works in this domain.
Hussein al-Kreiban, a citizen told North-Press: “I came to register my car, where it was checked and matched,” describing the method and mechanism of registration as good.
It is noteworthy that the city of Raqqa witnessed during the control of the Islamic State (ISIS), a state of chaos and disorder due to the large number of vehicles, which were confiscated, brought from other cities or stolen by the members of the terrorist group.
