Home Internet users across the areas under the control of the Syrian government complain about the slow and poor Internet speed, also they are discomfort and resent due to blocking some social media websites and applications.
Imad Hanifa, a home Internet user from Aleppo, told North-Press that he subscribed to ADSL home service with 2MB speed, noting that they are four people in the house, but the network is still very poor.
He added that some social networking apps do not work on ADSL, such as WhatsApp, only after using proxy breakers (VPN), he said: “If the company wants to block social networking application, why it doesn’t announce that to the public, all people became familiar this issue”.
Evasive for the benefits of the companies
WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, in particular, have not been running for about six months unless using a VPN, which changes the network’s IP in order to be accessed.
The Syrian representative and parliamentarian Arif al-Tawil said earlier to a local radio that the Syrian government has blocked and obstructed using the free of charge program “WhatsApp” from Syrians for the benefit of the private cellular companies, which is an aggressive behavior against the Syrian people.
Al-Tawil added while accusing the Syrian Ministry of Communications of deliberately ordering to force the people to use the Syrian mobile networks in order to increase the profits when communicating with relatives in other countries.
The director of Communications Younes Hassan said that the slow internet, in general, is due to the combined use of family members and video playback simultaneously.
