Festival of colors in Raqqa to welcome the new school year

“Inmaa al-Karama” Organization in coordination with the Education Committee of Raqqa Civil Council held today a festival entitled (Festival of Colors), welcoming the new school year in the city.
The festival was held in Satea al-Housari School in al-Mashleb neighborhood, east of the city of Raqqa in northeastern Syria. It included a number of artistic events with the participation of a group of children from the city and its countryside.
Ahmed Al-Jassim, a trainer at Inmaa for Safe Childhood, a branch of “Inmaa al-Karama” Organization told North-Press: “The aim of the event is to share the joy of children of the return to school after the end of the three-month summer holidays; in addition to spread the culture of welcoming back the school, and to teach children how to maintain their schools, by providing certificates and gifts”.
The festival included dances for children, plays in English and Arabic, folk songs, children’s performances, and competitions, followed by a gift distribution to the winning children.
Shamsa al-Hamdi is a literacy teacher at the organization, said: “We came today to draw a smile on the faces of children and erase the psychological effects and pain left by the war, during the past years”.
“We performed a series of plays aimed at encouraging children to return to school,” she added.
The festival also included works of art for children with disabilities, in an attempt to integrate them into society.
One of the participating children in the festival, Yaman al-Ali said: “I participated in this festival to express my joy to return to school, and to share this joy with my friends”.
The festival concluded with the distribution of symbolic certificates to the outstanding children, aiming at pushing all children to work hard in this new school year.
